ZIF socket 28 pins wide
If you program a lot of ICs then using a ZIF socket is extremely easy because with a ZIF socket you don't have to use any force to get the IC into a socket for programming.
ZIF stands for "Zero Insertion Force" which freely translates to "No Input Force". the advantage of this socket is that you do not have to use force and cannot accidentally bend the pins of your ICs and damage them.
You put the handle of this socket in open position, then you place an IC and you use the handle to pin the pins in the ZIF socket and you can then program your IC
