This is another great IIC / I2C / TWI / SPI serial interface. Since the pin sources of the Arduino controller are limited, your project may not be able to use the normal LCD shield after it is connected to a certain amount of sensors or SD card. With this I2C interface module, however, you are able to realize data display via just 2 wires. If you already have I2C devices in your project, this LCD module actually does not cost anything anymore. It is fantastic for Arduino based project.
